MCBC's Vision for Our Congregations - Part 3

MCBC mourns the end of Bethel Mennonite Church. We wish God’s blessing upon those who transfer their membership to North Langley, and to those who do not, we offer our support and pastoral care.

MCBC encourages our faith communities to be congregational-led, structures that empower the priesthood of all believers, and women to participate in all levels of leadership. We encourage congregations to read the Bible together and prophesy truth to each other, all the while honouring the Spirit’s work in each other’s differing opinions. We realize that, according to some growth strategies, these values may impede efficiency, uniformity, and numerical growth. However, in our understanding of the ways of Jesus, we believe this is the best way of serving and shepherding His church.

MCBC has been offering up to $70,000 in revitalization and coaching funds to congregations. We believe healthy leaders beget healthy congregations, so MCBC has significantly increased counselling health benefits for pastors as well as an extended subsidy. Sherbrooke is one example of how MCBC has stepped in to help; we worked directly with Sherbrooke’s council, honouring Sherbrooke’s Anabaptist values, yet brought about significant changes that were needed. If you would like to discuss ways MCBC could help your congregation, please contact Garry, Gerry, or me (contact info).
