500th anniversary of Anabaptist origins. This is something worth celebrating! 


Gareth Brandt is excited to offer his speaking services to churches to help celebrate this important milestone. From January to May 2025, Gareth will be available for a variety of speaking engagements in BC.

500th Anniversary Celebration of Anabaptism” at Emmanuel Mennonite Church.

You are invited to the “500th Anniversary Celebration of Anabaptism” at Emmanuel Mennonite Church.
 
Location: 3471 Clearbrook Rd in Abbotsford
Date / Time: January 21, 2025 at 7:00 PM.
 
The evening will feature a presentation by Gareth Brandt responding to the questions:
- What happened 500 years ago today?
- Why was it such a big deal then?
- Does it still matter today?”
 
There will also be art, songs, poetry, fellowship, and cake!

For those who want to dig deeper, this event will be part of a short course on Anabaptist origins running at Emmanuel Mennonite Church on Tuesday evenings at 7 PM in the Fellowship Room from January 14 to February 11.

Anabaptism at 500 Vancouver Worship Service: 

 

Nine MCBC churches gathered at Richmond Peace Church to celebrate 500 years of Anabaptism.

The evening featured:  

- Choir and band led by Pastor John Williams.
- Chinatown Peace Church - shared upbeat historical overview of Anabaptism
- Gareth Brandt preached on how he became an Anabaptist Christian
- Graham McCarthy Pastor of Peace on 52nd - creative retelling children’s story of Dirk Willems  
- Menno Simon’s “True Evangelical Faith” read in 6 languages, symbolizing the extensive growth of Anabaptism in Asian, Africa and Latin America.
- Communion hosted by Janice and J. Evan Kreider from Point Grey Inter-Mennonite.
