Helpful Strategies for Working with Men who use Harm in Relationships
When: Oct. 24, 4-9 pm and Oct. 25, 9-4 pm, 2025
Where: Mennonite Central Committee, 33933 Gladys Ave., Abbotsford, in person or online
Trainers: Jane Katz (MA, RCC) and Magi Cooper (CHT) – advocates for ending intimate partner violence who have developed and delivered programs for men over the last thirty-five years.
Workshop Content:
· Understanding the dynamics of harm in relationships.
· Strategies for inviting men into a process of change.
· Strategies for engaging and supporting men throughout their change process.
· Exploration of topics typically covered in effective healthy relationship programs for men.
· Exposure to exercises that have been shown to be most effective in programs.
Participants will leave with an overview of effective work, an awareness of what is important in finding resources for men, and several handouts, exercises, and strategies for building a program. Future training opportunities will also be explored for those wishing to work in a program.
Who might attend: counsellors, pastors, community workers, people who work with women and/or men, anyone wishing to learn more about Intimate Partner Violence.
