Historical Sketch: Chinese Grace Mennonite Church*

The Chinese Grace Mennonite congregation in Vancouver, British Columbia began services in 1981. Daniel Cheung is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through outreach by the Vancouver Chinese Mennonite Church, and joined the Conference of Mennonites in British Columbia in 1983.

Samson Lo was the lead pastor for Chinese Grace, which had worshipers ranging from teenagers to seniors in their eighties. In fall 2001, an English language contemporary service was added to complement the more traditional Cantonese language service. Programs over the years included English classes, community outreach, a seniors’ ministry, and the Awana children’s ministry.

The church closed in 2016.
