Historical Sketch: Coquitlam Chinese Mennonite Church*
Coquitlam Chinese Mennonite Church was started around 1990. The Conference of Mennonites in British Columbia had agreed to plant a church in the Coquitlam area. After a survey was done, it was learned that Coquitlam had only one Chinese church. Albert Kwan from Hong Kong began working as a church planter in 1991. In May 1992 the church began to rent the facilities of the Blue Mountain Baptist Church.
It was difficult to begin the church from scratch, and Albert Kwan resigned in February 1993. That same year, the church ceased to be a conference project. The congregation was also known as Coquitlam Chinese Fellowship.
