Historical Sketch: Southside Gospel Mennonite Chapel*
The Southside Gospel Mennonite Chapel in Danskin, BC began services and formally organized in 1961. The first building was occupied in 1961. The congregation originated through outreach by the Conference of the United Mennonite Church of BC.
In 1963 there were 30 members. The congregation has been affiliated with the Conference of the United Mennonite Church of BC (1961-64) and the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Conference (1964-79). The language of worship is English.
The group was released from the B.C. Conference and merged with Evangelical Mennonite Mission Conference in 1964. The congregation was originally known as Grassy Plains Mennonite, located at Tatalrose, B.C. The congregation was released from the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Conference in 1979 and ceased Mennonite affiliation.
