MCBC Women's Day 2021 Report
A comedian, poet, and chef headlined a women’s day live-streamed event; the result? Laughs, thoughts, and food. The “interesting and varied programme” also included worship music led by Cheryl Heinrichs (Living Hope Christian Fellowship) and a picture memorial remembering the ladies who passed away in the past two years. Overall, the event was a “blessing” for the 67 participants from across Canada and even the USA.
Comedian Sara Weber from Ontario performed her act, “Mothers in a Dangerous Time” in which she looked at the lighter side of the Covid pandemic. The laughs were heartfelt and, as one participant noted, “was needed at this time.”
Published poet Anne Herridge of Chilliwack (member of Crossroads Community Church) shared devotional reflections and read thought-provoking verses of her poetry. According to participants it was “excellent” and “loved.”
Chef Dez of Mission got participants actively engaged in a well-done(!) cooking show. Two recipes were sent to registrants in advance so they would be able to cook along with Chef Dez. Expertly guided by the chef, the women made Zuppa Toscana and Rosemary Parmesan Biscuits (pictured below). As one participant remarked, “Will definitely be making this soup and biscuits again!”
