MCBC at 90! Better Together 5 - “Engaging God’s World”

Peace with God, Self, Others, Creation is the good road of a holistic King Jesus Gospel (ALA Scott McKnight, Matthew Bates, others). In our shared regional ministries structure, “Engaging God’s World” is one of the 4 strategy areas of MCBC – (1) Cultivating Anabaptist Vision, (2) Growing Community, (3) Engaging God's World, and (4) Congregational Support. I cannot do it justice in a few short paragraphs.

The overarching vision statement: Mennonite Church British Columbia (MCBC) is a faith community of Christian churches who are called by God to be followers of Jesus Christ and to grow, by the power of the Holy Spirit, as communities of grace, joy, and peace so that God’s healing and hope flow through us to the world.

As mentioned before (13 MAY2026) the Regional Church is really, first of all, a Resource Network. To put it another way: the regional and national should be laser-focused on whatever moves local churches toward being healthy, outward-facing, and connected. The Engaging God’s World part of our shared ministries purpose is: To extend Christ's peace and justice (holistic salvation and reconciliation) throughout British Columbia and beyond:

  • Creation Care – Supporting congregations in responding faithfully to the climate crisis, including emissions reduction grants and the 'Faithful Leadership in the Climate Crisis' cohort for pastors

  • Indigenous Relations – Building respectful relationships and walking together toward reconciliation with Indigenous communities

  • Justice and Peace Work Grounded in Jesus – Adjacent groups like the Palestine-Israel Network – Promoting peace, justice, and solidarity with those affected by conflict. We have a great need to expand this towards other worse global conflicts.

  • Affordable Housing – Addressing housing needs in our communities

  • International Witness – Connecting with and supporting Mennonite Church Canada's global mission work

  • Mennonite Central Committee support - An independent para-church organization supported by many Anabaptist-Mennonite groups.

When you give as a church and individual/family to support MCBC Regional Church office, we help support these ministries in your church and beyond doing the ministry “grunt” work of promotion, admin, seeking and developing leaders and pastors to make this happen.

Thanks for your giving of time, talent, and treasure to change the world one “bite” at a time!

Jesus: ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’ Matt. 25.40b
