Outreach and Revitalization Approved

Delegates to the MCBC AGM in February, 2019 at Peace Mennonite Church approved funding for five key projects focusing on O&R [Outreach and Revitalization].

Chinatown Peace Church is engaging with their community in Vancouver Chinatown [$10,500] and Peace on 52nd Church [previously FUMC] is reaching out into their neighborhood in south Vancouver [$28,000]. Mennonite Japanese Christian Fellowship is connecting with Japanese folks in Vancouver [$10,500].  An $11,000 allocation was set aside for additional church planting.

The fifth project is a new partnership initiative with Mennonite Central Committee – BC sharing funding for the Indigenous Neighbors program previously operating at 60%. MCBC will provide an additional 40% funding to top up the salary for additional work in connecting MCBC congregations with indigenous issues [$25,000].

The Mountainview Fund will provide approximately $70,000 in funding to support these projects in accordance with previous delegate directions.

MCBC support for Columbia Bible College continues at $100,000.

We can praise the Lord for all the project support in 2018.  Individual donations to MCBC programs increased by $34,000 and individual donations to nationwide ministry programs increased by $4,000. The end result was a revised net income of $30,950 without any funding contribution from the Mountainview fund, preserving those funds for future kingdom projects.

Programs supported by specific nationwide ministries donations will include development work with Anabaptist churches in Vietnam and Cambodia, the Mennonite Seminary in Bogota, outreach work in Germany and a literacy program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Nationwide ministry donations from congregations and individuals are budgeted to be $85,000 .

Designated funds for international witness projects and PPRO [Partner Projects and Related Organizations such as the Meserete Kristos College in Ethiopia] faithfully contributed an additional $52,725.

May God bless continued prayers and financial support for MCBC and nationwide ministry projects.
