Historical Sketch: Vietnamese Christian Church
In 2008 Pastor Nhien Pham of the Vancouver Vietnamese Mennonite Church and Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Abbotsford began exploring the possibility of beginning a Vietnamese ministry in the Abbotsford area. Exploratory research in the summer of 2008 discovered over 100 Vietnamese families in the city. A Bible study was started at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, meeting twice a month.
In 2009 the Evangelism and Church Development Committee of Mennonite Church British Columbia and Emmanuel Mennonite Church began giving the group a grant to pay Nhien Pham’s partial salary and expenses. The group took the name Vietnamese Christian Church and remains a ministry of Emmanuel Mennonite Church.
