February 25thWrapped in God's Love
John 15:1 - 8
Verse 4, 7 -- The Message
Live in Me. Make your home in Me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can't bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can't bear fruit unless you are joined with Me.
But if you make yourselves at home with Me and My words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon.

God calls me to be active (choosing to put my faith, hope and trust in the Lord each day) and making Him my primary home (the place that I feel the most safe and secure in). Taking time to read the Bible, pray and stay connected with fellow believers.
But the second part of it says He also calls me to be still "allowing God to be my home". Not running around doing "good things" all the time but allowing God to lead and transform me each day. Surrendering my will and choices to God, allowing Him to lead.
The blanket represents the connection with God, where I feel secure in the knowledge that God loves me. The blanket looks warm and inviting lying on a couch but unless I choose to pick it up and wrap myself in that warmth, it is just a piece of cloth decorating a couch.
I have picked up the blanket when I am lonely, afraid, uncertain, grieving, joyful, in other words in every facet of my life I know that God is the constant, His love has never left me. I, however, have wandered away from that connection when I have chosen to take control. But God is patient and will in a variety of ways encourage me to give Him my fears and remember that He is God. I need to pick up the blanket and choose to surround myself in His love and obey.
During the season of Lent, pick up the blanket, surround yourself in the never-ending love of God as you journey toward Easter.
